Today we went to Chappell Hill, Texas to the Bluebonnet Festival. Beautiful day. Lots of arts and crafts. Ate lunch at Bevers. Really good. Try their pie! I met a man named Dan Brown out of Ft. Worth. Raised in far west Texas, it is not surprising that the subject material for his water colors is Texas- landscapes, wild flowers, farms, ranches, light houses, canyons, mountains, water and coastlines. In talking with him, he said that for him to do a painting there has to be something that speaks to him or a story to tell. Well most of his work has a story to tell. And that makes each painting or print unique and special. We have one of his prints of a homestead a mile or 2 north of Marble Falls, just off highway 281. Typical beautiful Hill Country of Texas. But you will have to look closely and carefully to see the detail in the construction of the home that tells the story. A stone house that began as a very simple modest home that was added onto as the family grew and prospered in the Marble Falls area.
Mr. Brown was wonderful to talk with. I hope you take a moment to visit his website or go see him in person at a show or festival he may be participating in.
